Dolomite & Quartzite Stonework
Sky White dolomite in the kitchen. Infinity quartzite in the bathroom.
A closer look at the natural stone details at SkyGarden, with architectural design by Jayson Pate Design and stone fabrication by NV Stone.
Two natural stones, each with a distinct role.
SkyGarden brings Sky White dolomite and Infinity quartzite into the same home without asking them to look alike. In the kitchen, dolomite extends across the island and splashback. In the bathroom, quartzite forms a double vanity with a half-bullnose edge and a dressing-table benchtop.
The result is a useful example of how a whole-home stone selection can feel connected while giving each room its own character. Colour, movement, finish and the way an edge meets the cabinetry matter as much as the material name.
This project story looks closely at those details and the collaboration behind the finished work.

Sky White dolomite: the kitchen’s material thread.
Sky White dolomite gives the kitchen a shared material language across the island and full-height splashback. Its natural veining sits against green island cabinetry, dark timber joinery and a brass rangehood. These contrasting finishes give the stone room to stand out.
The broad island surface shows the movement at a different scale from the vertical backdrop. Looking at the two together helps explain why a small sample is only the beginning of a stone selection: the full slab and the proposed layout determine how the pattern will be experienced in the room.

Planning the visible faces
For a kitchen like this, the design review considers the island top, splashback, exposed edges, sink openings and adjoining cabinetry together. Slab dimensions and pattern direction influence the layout and join positions. Reviewing those details before manufacture helps connect the material selection with the finished proportions.
If you are considering a similar palette, bring your cabinetry finishes, drawings and stone shortlist to the discussion. The finish, care expectations and fabrication details should be considered alongside the appearance.

Infinity quartzite: a softer edge in the bathroom.
The SkyGarden bathroom uses Infinity quartzite for the double vanity. Its half-bullnose edge gives the front a rounded profile, allowing the stone’s pattern and the edge detail to be read together. The timber cabinetry and mirrored storage provide a warm, practical setting for the surface.

A vanity brings several details into a compact area: basin openings, tap locations, the front edge, wall junctions and supporting cabinetry. Coordinating those elements is part of the stonework scope, rather than leaving the edge or basin detail until the final stage.
The dressing-table detail
Infinity quartzite also appears on the dressing-table benchtop, alongside timber cabinetry and an illuminated mirror. This smaller surface continues the material through the room, with its own proportions and use.

From slab selection to the finished detail.
A finished room photograph shows the result. Behind the stonework is a sequence of decisions about the slabs, site dimensions, edge construction, supports and installation. NV Stone’s approach brings those decisions together before cutting begins.
Selection and layout
The actual slabs are reviewed against the drawings and intended application. Natural variation, available sizes, visible faces and join locations all influence the proposed layout. Material identity and care guidance are confirmed with the supplier.
Templating and manufacture
We template onsite once the relevant cabinetry, supports and appliances are ready. Manufacture and hand finishing take place in our Slacks Creek workshop, with shaping, openings and assembly guided by the selected stone and agreed details.
Installation and handover
We coordinate access and site readiness, complete the quoted installation and sealing where required, and provide care guidance. Where included in the scope, sinks and basins are fitted onsite ready for the plumber to connect.

Planning natural stone for your own home?
Use SkyGarden as a reference for the details that matter to you: a patterned kitchen splashback, a statement island, a rounded vanity edge or a coordinated dressing-table surface. Share those references with your drawings so we can discuss an achievable stonework scope.
NV Stone manufactures in Slacks Creek and installs across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. Workshop visits are by appointment.
