Deep Colours and Soft Stone Curves: A Bathroom in Honed Cosmetria Marble

A Bathroom in Honed Cosmetria Marble

Rich natural colour, soft Stone curves and carefully crafted details come together in this bathroom designed by Jayne Air .

Featuring Cosmetria Marble from Artedomus in a honed finish, the stonework was
fabricated and installed by NV Stone.

The marble brings an expressive mix of earthy browns, soft pinks, charcoal tones and golden accents to the space.

Its natural pattern flows across the vanity, splashback, shelves and wall panels, giving each surface its own character while connecting the bathroom as a whole.

Balanced with pale timber cabinetry, light tiled surfaces and warm metal fittings, the result is a bathroom with depth, warmth and a strong sense of individuality

A material that shapes the design

Natural stone can influence much more than the colour of a benchtop. Its markings, movement and
finish help shape the atmosphere of an entire room.

Here, Cosmetria Marble provides the starting point for the palette. Deeper tones give the bathroom richness, while lighter fragments within the stone relate to the surrounding tiles and cabinetry. Warm metal fittings pick up the golden accents without competing with the marble’s pattern.

The honed finish adds a soft, low-sheen appearance. This gives the richly patterned stone a quieter surface, allowing its natural colour and detail to remain prominent

Soft curves in solid stone

One of the defining features of this bathroom is the curved marble splashback and return beside the vanity.

The rounded transition softens the outline of the stonework, creating a flowing shape alongside the straighter lines of the cabinetry and wall panels.

Viewed from the side, the return reveals the marble’s character across a vertical surface. The rounded vanity benchtop continues these softer lines, complementing the basin and mirrors.

For NV Stone, creating these details involves careful shaping and finishing. The profile needs to feel consistent along the stone curve, with smooth edges and considered transitions between adjoining pieces

The vanity as a feature

The marble vanity top gives the room a practical surface and a strong visual focal point. Its expressive
pattern sits above pale timber cabinetry, while the light basin offers a simple shape against the detailed
stone.
The benchtop, splashback and curved return work together as one composition. Each piece contributes
to the overall silhouette, giving the vanity a custom appearance that reflects the design of the room

Stone wall panels

Continuing Cosmetria Marble onto the walls gives the material a larger presence within the bathroom.

The wall panels showcase its natural movement on a different scale from the vanity top, framing the shower area and connecting visually with the splashback, ledge and shelving.

Using an expressive stone across several surfaces calls for careful consideration of how each piece sits within the space. Panel placement, joins and transitions all influence the finished appearance.

Here, the lighter tiled sections provide a pause between the richly patterned marble surfaces

Stonework that connects the space

Matching stone shelves and a vanity ledge

The matching marble shelves and ledge carry the material into the smaller details of the bathroom.

These elements provide useful surfaces while reinforcing the connection between the vanity and wall cladding. Their slim horizontal lines introduce a gentle contrast to the marble’s irregular natural pattern.

The ledge above the vanity creates a defined finish to the splashback. Nearby stone shelves continue the same material, making the shelving feel integrated into the design. A few simple vessels or everyday essentials are enough to style these surfaces while leaving the stone visible.

Carefully positioned tap fittings

The wall-mounted tap fitting sits within the marble splashback above the basin. This detail requires coordination between the basin position, stonework and plumbing.

Openings in the marble need to be
accurately located and prepared so the fittings align with the intended layout.

It is a small part of the overall bathroom, but one that contributes to how the vanity looks and functions.

The warm metal finish provides a subtle link to the marble’s golden tones.

Styling a bathroom around deep stone colours

Choose lighter cabinetry. Pale timber adds warmth while allowing the darker stone tones to stand out.

Repeat colours within the marble. Light tiles and warm metal fittings connect with its quieter cream and gold accents.
Keep accessories considered. A few simple pieces give the natural pattern room to remain the focus.

Use gentle lighting. Soft light highlights the colour, texture and curves without harsh reflections.

Carry shapes through the room. Rounded mirrors, a softly shaped basin and curved stonework create a consistent design language.
