01 / Porcelain for your space

A coordinated finish, from benchtop to splashback.

Porcelain slabs are manufactured ceramic surfaces offered in a range of colours, patterns and finishes, including stone-inspired designs. We help resolve the selected product, slab layout and fabrication details together, so the finished surfaces work with your cabinetry and architecture.

Kitchens & islands

Plan preparation space, island seating, sink openings, appliance cut-outs and exposed ends as one design. A slim edge or mitred fascia can create different proportions, subject to the selected product and construction.

Splashbacks & bathrooms

Coordinate benchtops with splashbacks, vanity tops or feature panels. Slab dimensions, pattern direction, wall preparation and the position of taps and fittings help determine the layout and joins.

Outdoor kitchens & BBQ areas

Selected porcelain products can suit exterior applications. We confirm approval for the proposed exposure, finish and installation, then coordinate supports and appliance clearances with the project team.

02 / The details that shape the result

Look beyond the surface pattern.

Slab selection & layout

Review the actual product, finish, batch, slab sizes and usable dimensions against the plans. Pattern direction and repeat influence how adjoining surfaces meet. We discuss joins and vein alignment without promising an invisible seam.

Edges & mitred fascia

Confirm the appearance of the exposed edge as well as the face. A surface pattern may differ from the slab body. Mitres, built-up edges and waterfall ends require a construction suited to the selected porcelain.

Cut-outs & support

Sink and appliance models affect corner radii, opening sizes, remaining material and support requirements. Cabinetry, substrates and overhangs are reviewed against the chosen manufacturer’s fabrication guidance.

Have a curved detail in mind? Send a drawing or reference image. The available shape and edge treatment depend on the product, thickness and fabrication method; details used in natural stone are assessed separately for porcelain.

03 / Choosing your material

Porcelain or natural stone?

The right choice depends on the look you want, how the space is used and the details you value. Porcelain offers manufactured patterns and finishes; natural stone has geological variation that differs from slab to slab. Compare full slabs and samples in the proposed lighting before deciding.

Choose the appearance

Consider pattern scale, finish, edge colour and whether matching pieces are available. Review a physical sample rather than relying on a screen image alone.

Choose the construction

Discuss thickness, fascia depth, cut-outs, joins, sink installation and support early. The same drawing can require different construction in different materials.

05 / Everyday care

Keep the finish looking its best.

Follow the selected manufacturer’s care guide. Clean spills promptly with an approved cleaner and a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Use chopping boards and heat mats, protect exposed edges from heavy impacts and avoid dragging heavy objects across the surface.

Care requirements can vary with the product and finish. We review any sealing or treatment requirements with the supplier and provide the relevant handover guidance for your selection.

07 / Planning your project

Porcelain benchtop questions.

Can porcelain slabs be used for kitchen benchtops?

Yes, when the selected product and thickness are approved for benchtops. We review the layout, cut-outs, supports and fabrication instructions before confirming the scope.

Can the benchtop and splashback use the same porcelain?

Often they can, subject to the product, available slab sizes and layout. We plan pattern direction, joins and adjoining pieces together.

Can porcelain have a thicker mitred edge?

A mitred fascia can create a deeper edge where the product and fabrication method allow it. We confirm the proposed construction and edge appearance during quoting.

Can I have an undermount sink?

Send the sink model and plans. Suitability depends on the porcelain product, thickness, cut-out detail and independent sink support. Where included, we fit the sink onsite ready for your plumber to connect.

Can porcelain be used around an outdoor BBQ?

Selected products are approved for exterior use. We review exposure, the chosen product and the appliance requirements, including clearances, ventilation and supports, with the relevant trades.

Does porcelain need sealing?

Check the selected manufacturer’s guidance. Porcelain is generally a low-porosity surface, but treatments, finishes, joints and installation materials need their own assessment. We confirm the care requirements for your selection.

What affects the cost of porcelain benchtops?

The exact product, slab quantity, layout, joins, mitres, splashbacks, cut-outs, supports, handling and installation access all affect the quote. Send plans and the product name for a tailored scope.
